What is Financial Threads?

Financial Threads brings structured collaboration to project-based spending, departmental budgets, branch expansions, and shared business events. Instead of burying expenses in chat messages or messy spreadsheets, each project or event gets a dedicated Financial Thread with a budget meter, role-based participant permissions, running balance statements, and an immutable audit log.

Key Capabilities

  • Dedicated Project Budgets: Set an allocated budget and track live utilization against configurable threshold alerts (50% Notice, 80% Near Limit, 100% Exceeded).
  • Role-Based Participant Access:
    • Owner: Full control — edit thread details, manage participants, and confirm closing figures.
    • Contributor: Can log income and expenses, attach payment details, and view running summaries.
    • Viewer: Read-only access to transaction timelines, summary metrics, and statements.
  • Keyboard-First Fast Entry: Rapidly log expenses and income with on-screen keypad, category tagging, and payment method selection (UPI, Cash, Card, Bank Transfer, Wallet).
  • Audit Trail & Soft Deletes: Soft-deleted entries remain documented in the audit timeline with timestamps and user IDs, ensuring complete financial accountability.
  • Statement Table & CSV Export: Real-time statement with dual running balances (Cash & Digital) and one-click CSV export.

Thread Lifecycle

Financial Threads support a clear lifecycle from initial planning to financial closing:

[DRAFT] ──► [ACTIVE] ──► [PAUSED / COMPLETED] ──► [CLOSED] ──► [ARCHIVED]
  1. Draft: Plan the thread budget, initial title, and participant invites before transactions begin.
  2. Active: Live spending and income recording by authorized contributors.
  3. Paused: Temporarily freezes new transaction entries while reviewing accounts.
  4. Completed: Project milestone reached; accounts awaiting final sign-off.
  5. Closed: Final figures confirmed and locked by the thread owner.
  6. Archived: Preserved for historical reference and audits.

Best Practices & Tips

Stay Ahead of Budget Overruns

Set the Notice Alert at 50% and Near Limit Alert at 80% to receive proactive heads-up indicators before the allocated funds are exhausted.

Soft Deletes Maintain Audit Compliance

If a mistake is made, deleting an entry marks it as soft-deleted in the audit history with strikethrough styling and timestamp, ensuring transparent audit trails for managers and auditors.
